A blog series sharing the stories behind the poems in my book, where they came from, and the moments that gave them life.

The cyclone that entered my spine was sweeping through my family, shifting and changing every aspect of our lives!

Initiation, or what I came to understand as “shaktipat,” or the descent of Grace, first and foremost revealed Love as the all-pervading power, its source being within myself.

I must have known in my heart of hearts that something was missing because one of my first thoughts in that Holy Instant was: “Now I have something to give to my children.”

It’s not that I hadn’t been trying, giving my all as their mother for nearly 20 years!

And here it was! I was seeing the essence of everything and everyone including myself from the inside out.

I saw my family members, my clients, even strangers on the street through the eyes of Love. Divine Love was all-knowing, all-inclusive.

At the time, I likened this profound awakening within myself to adding salt or sugar brings flavors together in a sumptuous dish.

Beyond the moment was the certainty, or knowing, that something of real and lasting substance had taken place. Little did I know where it would lead, but I was open, at long last, to finding out.
